Harry R. Delaney

Harry R. Delaney, II, 79, of Scott Depot, WV entered into heavenly rest on Thursday, November 2, 2017 at his home in Scott Depot after a long illness. He was born May 19, 1938 in St. Albans, WV. On May 21, 1957, He married the love of his life Phyllis Smallwood Delaney who survives. To this union three children were born; son, Joseph E. Delaney (Cindy) of Charleston; daughters, Carolyn Y. Hart (Steve) of Winfield and Carrie L. Wiesner (deceased). He is also survived by six grandchildren, Jessica, Mekayla, Trevor, Andrea, Alexx and Skylar and one great grandchild, Landon. Harry was an active member of the Masonic Fraternity since 1970. He was active in all phases and served as Worshipful Master of Washington Lodge No. 58 in St. Albans, WV. He was a Past High Priest of Tri-County Chapter No. 51 in Hurricane, WV and a Past Commander of Kanawha Commandery No. 4, Knights Templar. He was a member and Past Prior of Mountain State Priory No. 55, Knights of the York Cross of Honor; also, a Past Sovereign of West Virginia Conclave, Knights of the Red Cross of Constantine. He served as Grand Tiler of the Grand Chapter of Royal Arch Masons of WV for many years. He was a longtime member and Past Governor of Charles W. Wise College of York Rite Sovereign College of North America. He was a distinguished recipient of the prestigious Order of the Purple Cross by the York Rite Sovereign College. Harry was a 33rd Degree Honorary member of the Ancient & Accepted Scottish Rite of Freemasonry, Valley of Charleston. He was also a member of the Masonic Roseicrucians Society. He was a past member of Beni Kedem A.A.H.O.N.M.S. of Charleston, WV. He was a retired employee of Monsanto Chemical Company with 18 years of service and served as Treasurer of the Monsanto Employees Credit Union for several years. Harry was an amiable and friendly man who made friends easily and retained them well. He dearly loved his home and family, and especially his grandson Skylar who has made his home with his grandparents for several years. He loved a good cigar and happily told his daughter returning from military service in Cuba and presenting him with a box of premium Cuban cigars these were the best cigars ever. He will be sorely missed by his many friends and brothers. Harry was a Methodist by faith and we are assured that he now rests in the everlasting arms. There will be no visitation. Masonic Graveside Rites will be conducted by Washington Lodge No. 58 AF & AM at Cunningham Memorial Park in St. Albans on Tuesday, November 7, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers the family request donations, in memory of Harry, please be made to Beni Kedem Shriners Transportation Fund, 100 Quarrier Street, Charleston, WV 25301, for childrens medical needs.
