James William Payne

James William Payne, 87 of St. Albans went home to be with the Lord, Friday October 7, 2016 at CAMC General Hospital, Charleston. James was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Eva Payne and first wife, Eileen Payne. James was a resident of Michigan and West Virginia. He founded and operated a metal fabrication company, Payco Inc. He was involved with the Redford Union School District as the former President and board member for many years. He was very active in his church Berean Baptist Church in Bellville, Mich. James was an Amateur Radio (ham radio) operator in Michigan and West Virginia. He was a member of the Kanawha Amateur Radio Club and the National Association for Amateur Radio. In addition James was a Christian magician and member of the Internal Brotherhood of Magicians since 1977. After moving to West Virginia, James became an active member of Faith Missionary Baptist Church in St. Albans serving as a Deacon and Sunday school teacher. He is survived by his wife, Jean White Burgess Payne; sister, Gale Nagy (Mike) of Faquay-Varina, N. C. ; sons Jim and wife Dayle of Calif., Tom and wife Cathy of Redford. Mich., Pastor Bob and wife Becky of Moncton, New Brunswick, Canada; daughter Kathy and husband Jim Robinson Brighton, Mich.; step-sons, Ed Burgess of St. Albans, Dan Burgess and wife Beth of Lynchburg, VA, step-daughter, Mary and husband Mike Sandifar of Oakland City, Ind., Carolyn and husband Jeff Brady of St. Albans and Sara and husband Randy Rausch of Cumming, Ga.; 3 grandchildren, 19 step-grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren and 17 step-great-grandchildren. Memorial service will be held at Noon on Wednesday October 12, 2016 at Faith Missionary Baptist Church, 701 McCorkle Avenue, SW, St. Albans, with his son Pastor Bob Payne and Pastor Mike Hager officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the memorial service Wednesday at the church. In lieu of flowers, donations are encouraged to Faith Missionary Baptist Church, St. Albans.
