James "Jamie" E. Withrow Jr.

James “Jamie” Edward Withrow 49, of Winfield, WV passed away at home on June 30, 2026. He was born on August 23, 1976 in Charleston, WV to Lois Ann and James Withrow Sr. James was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents: James and Mary Withrow; maternal grandparents: James and Lois Lane; and his uncle, Corp. Darrell Lane. He was a devoted husband, father, son and friend whose presence was woven into the everyday lives of the people who loved him most. He was the kind of man who showed up whether through helping others, fixing things, preparing dinner for his family, or simply being there at the end of the day to talk about life. He especially loved being involved in the lives of his children. He leaves behind countless ordinary moments that now feel extraordinary to those who loved him. Those closest to him knew that beneath his tough moments was someone who deeply loved his family and cared more than he often knew how to express. James was a 1994 graduate of Dupont High School who later attended Glenville State University as well as West Virginia State College. Afterwards he dedicated 29 years to Frontier Communications, where he worked as a fiber optic engineer. He was known for his strong work ethic, knowledge, and dedication. He took pride in providing for his family and working hard throughout his life. Outside of work, James loved being outdoors and spending time with his boys. He especially enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating, and riding ATVs together, creating memories that his family will hold close forever. One of James’ lifelong dreams was to one day build then operate an automotive shop, a place where race cars and classic cars would come to life, where knowledge would be passed down, and where he could stand beside his boys as they chased their own dreams in motorsports. While he was never given the chance to see that dream become reality, it did not end with him. Through Hunter and Austin, that dream will continue, fueled by the passion for motorsports he instilled in them. His legacy will live on for generations to come. In addition to his parents, James leaves behind his loving wife of 24 years, Patricia “Trish” Withrow; sons: Hunter and Austin Withrow of Winfield, WV; stepdaughter, Ashley Sayre (Perry) of Scott Depot, WV; grandson, Henry Sayre; sister, Tiffany Withrow of St. Albans, WV; aunts: Gay Logston (David) of Charleston, WV and Glenna Chapman of Belle, WV; uncle, Mark Lane of Kernersville, NC; nephews: Dylan and Devon Skiles of St. Albans, WV and Michael Jones of Morgantown, WV; niece, Katie Jones of Morgantown, WV; mother and father-in-law, Karen and Dayton Jones of Beckley, WV; brother-in-law, Jeremy Jones (Christina) of Morgantown, WV as well as extended family and lifelong best friends who will miss him deeply.
