Kenneth Joe Bowman

Kenneth “Joe” Bowman, 70, of Southside, WV died peacefully at his home on August 28, 2022 with his loving wife, Beverly by his side. He was preceded in death by his father, Deward B. Bowman; mother, Evelyn Francis Bowman; and brother, David Roger Bowman. Joe was a member of Harmony Baptist Church and loved the Lord. Joe was a Class of 1970 graduate of Winfield High School. He was employed at Coastal Tank Lines from 1972-1983, then went to work for Gordon Gasket and Packing Company, where he worked his way to being the owner of the company in 1996. Later in his career, he worked for WV Freightliner and Worldwide Equipment. He was a devoted Christian, husband, father, and grandfather and was a good example for his grandchildren of integrity and determination. He enjoyed spending time with his family, watching and feeding the deer on their property. Joe and his wife enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson Motorcycle with different groups of friends, among their travels were Niagara Falls, Key West, Myrtle Beach, Daytona and the Run for the Wall several times. He loved watching westerns, cars, WVU Football, working with electronics and listening to Elvis music. Joe always said his greatest achievements were his family. He was a strong driven person that never gave up and seemed to fight until the end, often beating all odds. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Beverly Louise Bowman, daughters: Joanna Stover (Brian), of Hurricane, WV, and Christina Stewart (Ronnie) of Beckley, WV; son Jonathan Bowman (Lindsey); brothers: Eddie Bowman (Jency) of Blairsville, GA, Dannie Bowman (Sue) of Scott Depot, WV, and Steve Bowman (Cathy) of St. Albans, WV; grandchildren: Blake Stover (Morgan), Cole Stover, Evan Stover, Olivia McCracken, Samuel McCracken, Bryce Bowman, and Mackenzie Stewart; and his beloved pets Elvis and Buddy. A Celebration of Joe’s Life will be 2:00pm Wednesday August 31, 2022 at Chapman Funeral Home, Hurricane, WV with Pastor Samuel Green officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, Fraziers Bottom WV. Friends may visit the family an hour prior to the service.
