Ronald Bird Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Ronald Lee Bird, 73, of Hurricane, passed away October 12, 2009 at his home. Ronald was born February 4, 1936 in Garretts Bend, WV to the late Noah D. and Eva C. Bell Bird. He was retired from the Operating Engineers Local #132 in Charleston as a crane operator. Ronald served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict, and was a member of Winfield American Legion Post # 187. Ronald is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Doris Jean Paul Bird; his daughter, Debbie Holley and her husband Robert of Milton; his sons, Alan Bird and his wife Renee of Red House, Jonathan Bird and his wife Maria of Yorktown, VA, and Jason Bird and his wife Dee of Scott Depot; his sisters, Lorane Nunn of Garretts Bend, and Connie Leadmon of Hurricane; his brother, Frank Bird of Garretts Bend; and seven grandchildren. Graveside funeral service will be at 11:00 am, Thursday, October 15, at Valley View Memorial Park, Main St., Hurricane, with Pastor Chester Bird officiating and military honors by American Legion Post #187 Winfield. Friends may call from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm Wednesday at the funeral home.
